King's Evil
«Королевское зло», золотуха, болезнь, которую якобы мог вылечить король своим прикосновением. Говорят, что английский король Карл II прикоснулся к 100 000 человек; в 1682 г. таких людей насчитывалось около 8500. Некоторые пришедшие на лечение были насмерть затоптаны в толпе. Последним монархом, совершившим этот обряд, была королева Анна, которая в 1712 г. безуспешно прикоснулась к д-ру Джонсону, пытаясь его вылечить.
